Dysmorpha obesa
Spotting 300th! An Orthoptera insect armored with a very hard exoskeleton that also protect the wings. It was later on identified as Dysmorpha obesa, an extremely rare katydid. 45mm in length from forehead to wingtip. Green body with brown color running from the head to the back from the top. Choose to walk rather than flying because it does not get threatening easily confident of its hard armor. A common wasp-like insect is also see crawling on its body.
Plants of the rainforest of Maliau Basin. Found this one crawling on the table of the MBSC dining hall one night. Endemic to Southeast Asia.
This is the best spotting I spotted during my stay in Maliau Basin. I have never seen such an insect before. Special thanks to Bayucca for the ID. This is so far the 2nd spotting of this species in Project Noah. >>>Map accuracy : 5km diameter.
What a superb insect to have for your 300th spotting!!! Love your photo series! :-)
Thank you Bayucca and all.
This really is a very rare insect.

Got it! It's probably not a Phylloporidae as indicated in the link. Tettigoniidae, Phaneropterinae, Dysmorpha sp., Dysmorpha obesa. I hope Piotr will confirm, although I am 101% sure it is the same one...
