Glowing Click Beetle

Pyrophorini (tribe)

Description:

These large click beetles have a pair of light organs that they use to signal at night like a firefly. I saw one fly across a field at Maipaima Eco Lodge at night that was a solid light moving very fast.

Habitat:

This beetle was seen on a night walk resting on a palm frond in the forest.
