This is a great wasp mimic! It's actually a species of Fly. It might be a Thick-headed Fly, Family Conopidae.. About 20 mm long.

Habitat:

Oak forest.

Thanks for the correction, Eric! Syrphid was another guess I had but didn't mention because i couldn't find a similar one at the time.
Luis, sorry for any confusion. I wasn't sure that it was a Thick-headed Fly. I still have a lot of learning to do!

Syrphid, actually, on the order of Pseudodoros or Ocyptamus for genus.

HI Luis, this is a great wasp mimic! It's actually a species of Fly. It might be a Thick-headed Fly, Family Conopidae.
