It was almost invisible from the top angle. I would have put my foot on it.
Yes, I did notice it had several common names. When that happens, you can use whichever one you want, that is why we also use the scientific names! Glad you think it is the same thing I thought it was though!
Dear AshleyT, It is also known as Trivandrum Frog. But I did not use the name as I saw it 360 km away from Trivandrum.
Glad you decided on something! I enjoy trying to ID all your frog postings, it gives me a chance to learn about frogs in other parts of the world :)
Dear AshleyT, I have decided on a name following your lead. I shall change it, if someone else comes up with an alternative.
Well from what I saw, this species looked to be pretty variable with how light/dark its colors were. And it is very possible the green spots are a type of fungus, amphibians are very succeptible to fungus. I don't know anything about frogs in India though, I'm just going off of what I could find on Google. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide since you were the one that actually saw the frog. Hope I was able to help you some!
Dear AshleyT, I used this for a brighter coloured one without the green spot on the side. That is why I hesitated to use this. Anyhow, I shall follow this tip.
Not 100% sure, please use the link and read the description to see if you agree, but it all sounded right to me!
