Description:

Medium-sized, fast-moving beetle active at night. Hairy, marked with black and red, it may mimic velvet ants.

Habitat:

Found this at lights at night in an RV park. Mostly landscaped habitat with lawns, palm trees, surrounded by agricultural lands.

Notes:

Most ground beetles are predators of other insects.
