Tube Spittlebug

Unidentified Machaerotidae

Description:

The most prominent feature, of this bug, must surely be its "horn" which, according to Wikipedia, is more correctly called a "process". It has yellow, brown and white stripes running from the eyes back over the head to the scutellum, almost reaching the base of the process.

Habitat:

Spotted in the farm on the stem of a Tropical Whiteweed (Ageratum conyzoides Linn.) known in the Philippines by various names in many dialects. In our local dialect, this plant is called Salunay. Plant information - http://stuartxchange.com/Bulak.html
