Open woods, thickets, disturbed sites.

Notes:

There is quite a bit of this very tall weed growing on the edge of a patch of hardwood hammock at this park. I found the "leaf-fringed" stems interesting (pic 4). The name comes from the ability of this plant (along with many other different kinds of plants) to form ice crystals and thus shares the common name with many other unrelated plants.
