Hummingbird Hawk-moth and Caterpillar

Macroglossum sp.

Description:

Approximately 1 inch ir 2.5 cm long. I think this moth looks a lot like an airplane. Found in Sasebo Japan.

Habitat:

I don't know about the moth. But the caterpillar ate the leaves in the photo.

Sphingidae, Macroglossinae, Macroglossum pyrrhosticta. And yes, #5 is the caterpillar (scroll down):

It looks like a sphingidae but not sure what species

Will be very interesting when it is identified - to me it looks like an arrowhead!
