Mexican Flame knee

Brachypelma auratum

Description:

The maximum body length of females is eight inches. Contrasting remembers this kind to the Mexican Redknee Tarantula (Brachypelma smithi) and therefore was formerly considered a variety ("Hochlandsmithi") is considered. In 1992, she was led by Günter Schmidt systematically as a separate species. It is colored a little darker. On the patellae (knee) has a flame-like red drawing which brought her in the English-speaking world the name "Flame Knee" ("flame knee"). It is a hardy, vigorous kind, considered to be quite adaptable.

Habitat:

Brachypelma auratum preferably with interspersed mountain forests up to 1000 meters altitude, but also occurs in low-lying areas. The settlement areas are seasonally very dry. The first specimens were caught in the highlands of Mexico City. For rare and heavy rains, the animals flee their flooded burrows. Some animals live in broken edges of road construction.
