Wellington Tree Weta

Hemideina crassidens (female)

Description:

A female tree weta, on my front yard fence, Kilbirnie Wellington. We had a very hot Xmas day today, so lots of insects, spiders, etc, were tying to cool down from the heat, by sitting on shady wooden parts on the garden fences...This fmale weta was sitting there the whole afternoon, and she was taking the deffensive position when ever I was aproaching her. Later on in the evening she was more active, now that I checked, she wasn't there any more, she left.
