Falco peregrinus
spotted with prey (pigeon) in residential street
These photos are courtesy of my friend, Michelle. Her next door neighbor puts out seed for the squirrels but has managed to attract a fair bunch of pigeons. This falcon was dining right in the middle of her street.

Thank you, EnvUnlimited. They are such striking birds.
Espectacular series::
Gordon, as I understand it, this bird was undaunted by neighborhood traffic, but flew off when approached by a curious neighbor.
We had a peregrine knock down a pigeon into the middle of a busy downtown street a couple of years ago. Traffic slowed and drove around the peregrine as it munched its prey. A passing officer noticed the bird and directed traffic, didn't know what it was but figured it was something special, and directed traffic around the scene until the peregrine ate its fill and flew off. Enjoyed reading about this particular incident.
Agreed!
Great series Nancy!
My friend is not a PN user, but as Gordon said, the opportunity was too fantastic not to share. Yes, Emily, quite the surprise--another 100 feet west and he would have been in the middle of busy U.S. 1!
What a beautiful find! That is a gorgeous bird! Amazed this was right in Cocoa!
Awesome!
How cool is that! Well, maybe not for the pigeon, but the photo opportunity was fantastic.... Nice job!
