Velvet-striped Grasshopper

Eritettix simplex

Description:

Small grasshopper, extremely variable in color and pattern. Here is a mostly beige specimen.

Habitat:

Found on the doorjamb of my apartment. Lawn in front, but nearby is an open field of grass and wild alfalfa.

Notes:

I initially thought this was Opeia obscura. Thanks to Dave Ferguson for the correction.
