Orchard Swallowtail Caterpillar

Papilio aegeus

Notes:

These caterpillars turn into large black butterflies. Apparently when they are disturbed the caterpillars are inclined to rear up at the front, evert a red osmeterium, and produce a citrus smell. It looks quite dramatic in the pictures I've seen and, if I'd known this, I might have been tempted to poke the caterpillar... does this make me a bad person?!
