Acanthocephala sp.
An enormous leaf-footed bug (Family Coreidae) of about 5 cm in length in a tree. It was very active and flies with a loud buzz. When it landed in the leaf litter, it was surprisingly hard to find! (last picture). This species was also spotted along the river of the Chorreadero Park, Chiapas.
Forest of the Sumidero Canyon National Park, Chiapas, Mexico.

Thank you bayucca for the identification. I am not sure of the species, it doesn't match really well those of Florida.
So huge. Maybe Kafka had this bug in his mind when he wrote "The Metamorphosis" ....
I only know 1 species as large and typical for yours: Acanthocephala femorata. Please, verify or let be verified and corrected by Eric! I am not 100% sure.
