wooded areas. and in flat lands
I am a native Texan and some people seem to be stereotypical when it comes to this state and one thing I get often is do we see armadillos everyday. That is however not true for most but to some it has happened. It is a rare sight when I get to view and whiteness an armadillo the only luck I get is (Pardon the expression) Road kill. I went hiking with my mom and we went to River Legacy. We were having a great time looking a wildlife on our fourteen mile hike. (That is seven miles front and back just as a note) It was a good adventure to get out and set worries aside. along the trail we heard rustling in the under brush and we stopped dead in our tracks and looked out to the side and found this guy foraging for insects their favorite food. This was the first time I had ever seen a Nine-Banded armadillo alive and well. After a good rain it seemed a feast was in order. we got pictures of several who had the same idea. They are pretty approachable but they had their standards of how close you could get to them. some where slightly on the skittish side and would get startled and flee. They one of the most iconic of all Texas animals. If you ever go to River Legacy you might just find a armadillo on your hike there. There are also plenty of insects for the Bug fanatics out there. River Legacy is just one giant mass bio diverse place. It has a lot of animals you wouldn't get everyday.
