ants

Description:

The photos aren't great but they show an interesting behaviour. These ants are attacking a cluster of frog eggs. They are going into the sticky mass and pulling out tiny tadpoles and bringing them back to their nest. Eggs probably belong to a Red-eyed Tree Frog.

Habitat:

lowland rainforest

Notes:

I saw this unique behaviour on a leaf above the pond in front of the accommodation at Guayacan Forest Reserve.
