Tradescantia spathacea
A striking variegated variety of Tradescantia spathacea (Rhoeo spathacea). Hardy, ornamental foliage plant that grows in low clusters from fleshy rhizomes. Waxy, lance-shaped leaves are green above and purple below. Blooming of small white flowers in boat-shaped bracts is sporadic all year long. Native to Mexico, the pant is found across the tropics and considered invasive in south Florida.
Growing as an ornamental in a semi-urban garden in an under-developed part of Biak town (on the edge of an under used school complex). This is in the equatorial tropics.
