A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Wilsonia citrina
Small yellow and green warbler with a black hood and a yellow mask. Females lack the majority of the hood but still have a faint mask giving them the appearance of a fake hood. Their song can be heard throughout the day during the breeding season, but learn your songs careful, for this bird has both breeding songs, and dawn songs. Most commonly confused with the call of the ever sought after Swainson's Warbler. The beginning of the hooded and the end of the swainson's call have a near similar tempo to confuse the hopeful birder.
Hardwood forest with low lying brush for coverage.
This bird is always in GREAT numbers for Texas spring migration. Counting down the months!

What a beauty!
Thanks Guys, Maria during the winter they are not nearly as gorgeous as they are doing their breeding season when males are super bright in coloration. Still counting down the days till migration myself :-)
gorgeous!
Lovely. Saw this bird for the first time in December and it is a beauty!
How exciting! We sure will be busy looking at & commenting on your new spottings in April & May!
cute bird and nice picture Cody =)
Thanks Yuko! April and May will be a busy time for me and photography. I will be spending a week at High Island for spring migration here in Texas going back and forth to Sabine Woods. On a good day we will count as many as 26-28 warbler species in the morning! In May I'm headed back to South America to shoot photography in Ecuador. Lots of good stuff to come as well as a new lens to help clarity and faster focus!!! Stay tuned.
Your collection of beautiful birds is never ending! I enjoy them so very much and am looking forward to more to come!
