A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Tradescantia rosea
Clumps usually dense and tussock-like, about 30cm or more high. Leaves very narrow, 12-20cm long, stiffly arching. Triangular, light-pink flowers have attractive gold stamens that rest just above the thin, strappy, mid-green foliage. One of the most distinct species, having only tiny floral bracts.
Thin woodland, scrub and open habitats where the soil is sandy. This wild plant was photographed at the Aiken Gopher Tortoise Heritage Preserve.
It's also called Morning Grace.
