Grey, brown and yellow colouring with flecks and stripe patterns. Long sharp claws. I believe this could be a juvenile female based on size and colouration. Happy to be corrected.
Bushland, rainforest, creeks and waterways. Can be spotted in suburbia.
Spotted out on Yuggera/Turrbal Country at the information shelter, Latina Ave Trail Head entrance of the Seven Hills Bushland Reserve (4170). I parked my car beside an open green space park, intending to take a photo of the sign before I entered the bushland for a trail walk. Just as I was getting my camera ready, I spotted this little lady sunning herself on the edge of a large stormwater drain. She let me take a few snaps from afar. As soon as I took a few steps closer to walk past her, she launched herself into the drain and disappeared. I'm certain the drain connects to a nearby creek because I walked that creek line almost immediately after I took the photo and I spotted a few water outlets along the way (which was a good reminder of why it's so important to respect our waterways!) In the second image her head is out of focus (because my camera is on the blink - or maybe it's my eyes that are on the blink?... LOL!) but I still value the image because it allows you to see some of the amazing details and design of her body and claws.
