Terrapene carolina bauri
This adorable baby turtle was found up-side-down in my birdbath...after a few minutes in a box his lethargic little body came back to action and he was released in the garden. I'm hoping it is an offspring of the box turtle that has been living around my yard for years.
In my yard: Siesta Key FL
I have to think a bird left him there...maybe a Grackle.
Congrats Claire, your turtle is featured in the Project Noah blog! http://blog.projectnoah.org/post/5115997...
Congratulations Claire! I was very happy this morning to see that you earned SOTD honors for this spotting! :)
Wow..thank you for the SOTD!..it's especially meaningful because it's an organism from my own yard.
I'm pretty sure a grackle left the turtle in the bird bath as one flew away just before the baby was found. By the way it was not only up-side-down, but under water.
Congratulations on the SOTD!!! I adore turtle.
I was just thinking how did it end up in the bird bath?? my bird bath it is up high!! unless yours it is at ground level ...they don't climb you know?!
very cute congrats! although i'm not sure if he is going to know what to do, but thank you for releasing him in the area that you found him.
Great capture Claire, congrats on the SOTD,thanks for sharing such a amazing spotting page
