A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Haven't been able to find anything like it yet. Seen on the nightwalk in the Orchid park at Andasibe National Park. Is this from the Hemiptera family? Acanthosomatidae? Podisus spp.? Bathycoelia madagascariensis ? There are 621 different families and 3336 species (at least!) of shield bugs known. Can anyone help me out with this one?

WOW!! No ID yet!! Looking forward for one...It is such a beautiful bug it deserves an ID.
After hours of searching (insects / Hemiptera / bug / Pentatomoidea / shieldbug / stinkbug / etc of Madagascar) all I could come up with (besides the hit Daniele had below) was this similar (if not nymph) specimen which, alas, is also unidentified! http://www.flickriver.com/photos/rainfor...
Do you have any side picks that show the mouth parts. Ityt may be a type of assassin bug.
looks like studded with jewels
This is a very tough one to crack!
Beautiful, I want this wonderful bug made as a broach or pendant!! I would not wear it but some people would!!
Awesome spot! I hope someone in the community can ID this for you.
Welcome to the community Arne!
I think so too. That's often the case with mongabay...found there but lacking ID :-(
I think you've got the right bug Daniele - pity it's not ID'd there either.
Pentatomidae
