Megalaima haemacephala
For my 2400th spotting I have selected these picture of my most favorite bird .the Copper Smith Barbett, The first picture shows a mom feeding a baby. then they sat on the wire for ages ,in deep conversation! I really wonder what they were saying to each other.

The call is a loud rather metallic tuk…tuk…tuk (or tunk), reminiscent of a copper sheet being beaten, giving the bird its name. Repeated monotonously for long periods, starting with a subdued tuk and building up to an even volume and tempo, the latter varying from 108 to 121 per minute and can continue with as many as 204 notes. They are silent and do not call in winter.
The beak remains shut during each call - a patch of bare skin on both sides of the throat inflates and collapses with each tuk like a rubber bulb and the head is bobbed
Thank you EnvUnlimited.
This bird is the official bird of Mumbai.
Thank you Lousiana Belle!
Great series!
thank you Ava. I would have really loved to know what they were talking about !
Delightful series.
much better!
thank you Karen ,for your feed back! I moved the second to first place.
Love this! I would, however, choose the 2nd, 3rd or4th shot as the first one. Your current first one has a lot of chromatic aberration. The joys of a zoom lens
