Pied-billed Grebe

Podilymbus podiceps

Description:

The Pied-billed Grebe is a species of the grebe family of water birds. Since the Atitlán Grebe has become extinct, it is the sole extant member of the genus Podilymbus. The Pied-billed Grebe is primarily found in ponds throughout the Americas.

Notes:

Poor light again this AM while trying out more birding with the 500 F4 combo hand held. This was at 700mm f5.6 on a 7D body making it have that 1.6x crop factor. While I love the speed and focus on my 7D I think I'm going to keep the 500mm F4 on my 5D MK II for the full frame goodness.
