a. Overall it looks like a well carved wooden art piece.
b. When any external threat is detected, it nicely withdraws it's legs and sits quite (pic 2) .

Habitat:

Spotted inside the car parking very close to open abandoned area with lot of plants.

mauna Kunzah, Thanks for the comment! Yes it's Orb Weaver. Many genera under that have the same pattern. :) I tried to google and got few details.
