Acmispon americanus var. americanus ( was Lotus purshianus var. purshianus)
Flowers are very small, about 1 cm. They look like tiny pea flowers.
They are about 50% of the ground cover on a sun baked west-facing hill side in the Santa Cruz mountains at about 2000ft elevation. They grow away from all shade and they stay mostly low to the ground and thin, but will grow up to maybe eight inches when surrounded by poppies.
