Eggs of Phasmids

Description:

This are eggs of Phasmids, nicely laid in 3 rows and glued under a leaf. They are rather small, around 3mm by 3mm in size. Based on the method the eggs are glued and the shape/structures of the eggs, this could be from the genus Neoclides. Identification by eggs or Egg Taxonomy is an interesting field among Phasmids. Different Family/Genus of Phasmids have different methods of laying their eggs and the shape/size/colours might be able to help identify or at least to differentiate the different genus. The different methods the eggs are laid are : - dropping them - glued in cluster on leafs or parts of plants as in this spotting - pinned onto leafs or parts of plants - drilled onto crevices of plants or substrate - buried into substrate or soil - flick/thrown, the Female has a scoop like appendage to flick her eggs - ootheca/egg case like in Cockcroach and Praying Mantis (this method was newly discovered in 2014 and is a ground breaking discovery)
