Night sugar ants

Camponotus nigriceps

Description:

These medium to large ants only ever seem to appear at night. Slightly translucent red thorax and legs, black glossy abdomen and head. The largest ones were about 20mm long. Slow moving unless disturbed.

Habitat:

Hospital grounds in suburbia.

Notes:
