Osprey

Pandion haliaetus

Description:

This osprey appeared perched on a dead tree limb about 50 yards across a canal from my back yard in western Boca Raton, FL. His breast feathers are very full and fluffy. That beak and claws look like they could do some damage to the fish which it typically likes to eat. Despite the distance, I am pretty sure he can see me taking the photo.

Habitat:

An abandoned golf course along an inland fresh water canal in western Boca Raton, FL. One of the photos shows his habitat.

Notes:

In one of the photos you can barely see him on a dead tree branch without benefit of my zoom lens.
