Freycinet's Frog or Wallum Rocketfrog

Litoria freycineti

Notes:

We found this little frog (around 4-5cm long) at night in a puddle left from heavy rain at Poverty Point camping area in the Great Sandy National Park. This location is right at the northern edge of this species' range. We also found a smaller one nearby - see http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/175.... I assume that this species is named for Louis de Freycinet, a French navigator who circumnavigated the earth, and in 1811 published the first map to show a full outline of the coastline of Australia.

Ok, just had a looksy at your other frog. There you go, he was the same, even if a little different. I have so much trouble with frogs. Congrats on your new patch too :)

Thanks Maria! Leanne, I saw another one nearby which I will post shortly but which I can't ID. I thought they were the same species as they both have the dark brown and orange warty things on the back, but I just don't know. I'll let you know when I get it up.
