Hi Gregory! I think this Dragonfly is actually a species of Clubtail. More specifically Genus Arigomphus. I couldn't find any Darners that had that type of dorsal striping. The shape of the claspers of your dragonfly (yours is a male) match the Arigomphus and the eyes of your dragonfly don't touch on the dorsal aspect of the head (which they do in Darners). Here is a picture of a Darner head: http://bugguide.net/node/view/174913/bgp...
However, I am not completely satisfied that it is the correct species as there are some slight differences from the photos I have found. The species seems to have some variation but I am not confident enough to say for certain. You might want to consider submitting this for identification on Bugguide.net or similar insect site.

Thank you for the correction! I apologize for my mis-identification; that was kind of a bad one.
Thank you very much for directing me to the Bug Guide identification page. I didn't know that was possible and I definitely submitted it.
Thank you again for the help!

With that said, the closest I can find at this time for a species is Arigomphus cornutus - Horned Clubtail.
