Praying Mantis (nymph)

Unidentified Mantidae

Description:

I can't identify this Mantid nymph with certainty, but that particular shade of green, the style of its raptoriales and the developing thoracic shield all point to one species - Hierodula patellifera Serville, 1839 (The Giant Asian Mantis). At least, that is how it looks to me, but if any Mantis expert out there can offer me a positive identification, I would be grateful.

Habitat:

Spotted in the grass in our backyard.

Notes:

In a sudden, heavy rain shower. I was rushing back to the house with my camera, trying to avoid getting soaked and I almost stepped on this Mantis. I scooped it up and tried to place it on some plants under the eves of our terrace, but it didn,t want to leave my hand. So, I took these pictures and ended up baby-sitting it for a while until it suddenly jumped off and headed back to the grass.
