Western Anemone

Anemone occidentalis

Description:

Beautiful large buttercup like flower that turns to a moptop when it goes to seed. My grands call these Truffula trees from Dr Seuss!

Habitat:

Subalpine meadows on Blackwall Peak, near the Heather Trail, Manning Park, BC, North Cascades Mtn range. Seen here with yarrow and fireweed.

Notes:

This plant flowers as soon as the snow leaves the ground so you have to be in the subalpine early in the season to see the flowers.
