Magnificent Frigatebird

Fregata magnificens

Description:

I can't ID this bird that I spotted in the Galapagos - but I had to grab a shot of it as it was flying against the blue sky!

Thank you all for the help! Very interesting differences between the two, but overall looks most closely like the Magnificent Frigatebird according to the community here. Nice to have worked together :)

Adult female Magnificent Frigatebird looks exactly like this photo in my bird guide, pink feet and all.

Female Magnificent Frigatebirds have pinkish feet. Unless I'm mistaken, it's only the males that have dark feet.
Frigates are always tough, but I'm more inclined towards Magnificent due to the black throat.

Whatever it turns out to be it's a beautiful photo of a beautiful bird :)

Nathan is right about the feet, which would make it F. minor, but then this bird clearly has a black throat, which would make it F. magnificens, as Jacubko says.... Look at http://people.rit.edu/rhrsbi/GalapagosPa.... So, I am puzzled...

I'd say it's a Great Frigatebird due largely to the reddish feet, Magnificent Frigatebirds have blackish feet.
