Thread-legged assassin bug

Family Reduviidae, Subfamily Emesinae.

Description:

Thread-legged assassin bugs (Emesinae) have beefed-up forelegs equipped with sharp spines for grabbing, impaling, or pinning their prey. Liken this adaptation to the forelegs of praying mantids and “spearer” mantis shrimp.

Notes:

With 5mm this is the smallest assassin bug I found so far. Though small, it is a ferocious predator, as can be seen in the photo.
