San Diego Gopher Snake

Pituophis catenifer annectens

Description:

This is the second snake I've spotted on our property. I was very happy to see this 3.5 ft snake but wished it was a bit thicker, full of vermin :) This is a very mellow and non-aggressive snake. It appears angry with the supraocular scale hanging down over the eye ever so slightly.

Habitat:

Front yard in Oak Woodland. This subspecies is found in a wide range of habitats.
