Large water birds, length head-to-tail approaching 1 m; wingspan not observed. Feathers are black to dark gray; bill is red with white band near tip. Feet not observed.

Habitat:

Artificial lake in tropical insular coastal foothills.

Notes:

Spotted in koi pond at Byodo-In Temple, Windward Oahu.
