A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Daucus carota
Wildflower originally from Europe and Southwest Asia. Bloom is composed of umbels (many small flower stalks that come together, similar to an umbrella). Mostly white flowers often with a single central dark colored flower (usually red). Green leaves and stems with fine hairs. Young roots are edible.
Grows in disturbed habitat, roadsides, gardens, etc.
Considered beneficial in it's native lands but USDA has it identified as a noxious weed. These were growing from the cracks in the pavement on the edge of a parking lot.

Thank you!
Nice shot.
I suppose so :-). What else is there to do when it's below freezing and windy outside?
Memories of summer ?
