Mimosa's are very pretty, but in some places they are a very invasive species. They're hard to get rid of too. We've got one we've cut down a few times now and it just sprouts back up.

You have found a mimosa flower. Very common and very beautiful tree to the louisville. However I do not believe they are native species but a transplants species that has propagated thru the area.
