I have based my ID on the red coloured body and amber patches on all four wings.
It's been raining and there are dragonflies of all kinds in the air, on the ground and on the plants in the garden. This was on the ground in a patch being readied for winter annuals.
Although they get spooked easily dragonflies keep returning to the same perch. So patience is usually rewarded.

Thanks, Jellis. I will check and make the necessary corrections...after our festive season. Many thanks.
