It looks like you could be right (Locris areata) - the Field Guide to Insects of South Africa has a photo which matches this one, a lot of the others on ISpot look like L. arithmetica, which has more black spots on the wings.
Cercopidae, Locris sp. and assuming the ID of my link is correct, than it is Locris areata. But if you compare other Areata, than it might be a little but confusing.

If we do not find the correct species, I suggest that we take just the genus name. It could be that you have a little mess with the names down there ;-)...
