Green June Beetle

Cotinis nitida

Description:

Scarab of around 2cm in length. Yellowish green protonum with orange on sides; elytra are golden with some green shining through; head, legs, and underside are metallic green, turning to red on abdomen (picture #6), and covered in white hairs. Excellent flyer.

Habitat:

Found at my doorstep on the outskirts of Querétaro. The area is semi-arid with low scrub and cacti, at about 1800m above sea level.
