Description:

Purple colored berries when blooming, w/ somewhat bright green leaves. Berries toxic to humans; but wildlife likes them.

Habitat:

Native to SE USA. Like primarily dry sandy soil.

Notes:

Has been used as folk remedy to prevent mosquito bites due to four chemicals in the plant.
