Ant

Unknown, Family Formicidae

Description:

These were large ants and were in two sizes, the larger about 13 mm, the smaller about 7 mm, of course much less in bulk.

Habitat:

Very strange. They were coming up in quantities of about 15 or so floating in the bowl of the flush toilet. They would swim to above the waterline an vanish beneath the lip. Flushing produced another batch and the action would repeat. It took a while to figure out what was going on. The colors in the photographs are accurate,

Notes:

The third shows a larger ant carrying a pupae. It was fished out from the water. The first both large and smaller kinds, this last on a smaller scale, The second another of the larger 13mm kind carrying some material.
