Was the red on the head, chest or wing?

Can you describe where the red was on the bird. I would think woodpecker but it is not perched like one.

i cant tell from the photo but three common birds with those colors that i can think of are; Red breasted grosbeak, downy woodpecker, and one other woodpecker.

Welcome to Project Noah coles!
Birds are tricky to capture, & we can't see enough detail to be able to identify this one. If you don't have a clearer photo, please can you describe the bird for us so we have a little more to go on. You might also like to check out our FAQs http://www.projectnoah.org/faq which will provide you with more guidance on spottings.

Hi,
Probably best to wait till you have an image that is sharp enough to see the details of the bird.
