Description:

On the last photo note the left nostril close to the snout (it's the brownish patch), which separates this from the Clouded Monitor which has an elongated nostril each side midway between the snout and eye. The Clouded Monitor is also more sandy coloured and only grows to around 1.5 metres long while this one can reach 2.5 metres.

Habitat:

Nature reserve consisting of tidal mudflats, mangroves and lowland tropical rainforest.
