The tree is immensely tall. It looks like a few slender baobabs have been grouped together at the base. The flowers dangle high above a very busy road. These are large and white with a thin stalk. The centre looks somewhat like a kadamba flower...Neolamarckia cadamba!
At the gates of the Tolly Club. I get held up at the traffic light here EVERYDAY! And I looked up in exasperation and was so happy I did.

Chief, Thanks so much...I went searching ...armed with Bombax and Google led me to Baobab...the flowers match. I can't believe it...never thought I would see a Baobab tree in Kolkata.
