Ball Moss

Tillandsia recurvata

Description:

Small grey/green ball of string-like pieces, each about 6" long. Moss was attached to the end of a branch.

Habitat:

Found in a live oak near a park in Rockland,TX. The area was urban and near a small pond.

Notes:

Ball moss is not a true moss but a flowering plant that grows on a larger host plant. It thrives in shade and humidity. When I moved the limb it was on, in order to get better lighting, it fell to the ground.
