A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Tinea pellionella
I've found these things stuck to my wall a few times. They look like rolled up pieces of fluff or dust, but upon closer inspection there is a little black tail/worm wriggling out the bottom end. It's about a centimeter long. What is it? How did it get there? Update: looks like it's a moth larva! Specifically, the case-bearing clothes moth.
Indoors, basement.
Maybe identifying it will stop the nightmares.

Looks like you've identified it! Thanks so much, ForestDragon. I can sleep a little easier knowing it won't burrow into my brain.
These are moth caterpillars. They may be these:

They feed on clothes (wool, feathers, fur, hair, etc.). Not dangerous to you but they may eat holes in your clothes.
