Cabbage white butterfly

Pieris rapae

Description:

Cabbage white butterflies raised as part of a high school biology lab. Pictured is a mating pair of adults, plus an egg and young larva on the underside of leaf in the foreground. I like that in this one picture we can see the life cycle of the butterfly, except for the chrysalis, and the life cycle of the flower, Brassica rapa (open flower; wilted, post-pollination; seed pod).
